Gelatin Hydrolase is a digestive enzyme, which can resolve protein coagulated by gastric action into peptone but not further into amino acid. Its digestion is the highest when hydrochloric acid amount only reaches 0.2%-0.4% (pH=1.6-1.8), therefore Gelatin Hydrolase is usually combined with dilute hydrochloric acid. Gelatin Hydrolase is clinically applied to indigestion caused by eating too much protein food, chronic atrophic gastritis caused by convalescent decreased digestive function, gastric cancer, and anapepsia caused by pernicious anemia. It is mainly used for nutritional supplements and enzymic preparations.
